There is a lie that pervades our world.  You might even believe this lie.  The lie is that if you raise your children in the right enviornment, they will not be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered.  Many religious leaders misguide their parishioners by promising something that is not based in fact.  The truth is that gay people come from every family type, culture religion, and race.  Being gay is not learned behavior. 

Millions of people have shared the fact that they are gay with their families and loved ones.  Many times, families are prepared to respect a gay co-worker, or gay friend.  But when it comes to loving and respecting a family member, then the old saying, "not in my family", comes back up to the surface. 

Life is full of choices, but not everything we experience in life is the result of a choice.  BEING GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL, OR TRANSGENDERED ARE A FEW THINGS IN LIFE THAT ARE NOT CHOICES.  You may have heard differently from a variety of sources but the message that any of them are "lifestyles" or "choices" usually comes from uninformed persons or those who are often not able to accept and love themselves.

Chances are high that someone you know and or love will tell you that they are gay, lesbion, bisexual, or transgendered, (GLBT).  Sometimes this news is shocking.  Sometimes it is not.  Your response to the person who shares this with you often determines the length and healthiness of the relationship.
