Last night, I had a very interesting phone call with a friend whose ideas are radical (even more so than mine). We discussed the GLBT community with marriage for a long while. I was astonished when this older man released his opinions on marriage. I know not all gay people are heartened to see same-sex couples with marriage, but one of my friends not believing in them took me for a run. As I listened to his every word (and he had many) I found his beliefs to be insightful. Not only does he believe gay people should marry, but believes we need to teach the rest of society how to turn away from the crumbling foundation! He said, "Why would we want an institution which fails 50% of the time?" I believe this is a just question. In truth, I do not know. My response was that I believe people are in love with the idea of marriage: living our life with someone, having children and a family.
