Carl Joseph walker-Hoover's story http://www.advocate.com/exclusive_detail_ektid78827.asp is one that will be remembered for years to come. Just a week ago, he was going to school and dealing with bullies, taunts and torments. This has been going on since September and his mother has made calls as well as appearances at the school demanding for action. Carl wouldn't reveal the names of the children the were verbally attacking him for fear of being a snitch, but shortly before he committed suicide, he attempted to talk to a girl. She attacked him and the school made them sit together at lunch. Other than that, the school made no attempt to do anything about the verbal attacks. Carl was involved in football, baseball, boyscouts, and went to church with his mother. He was being made fun of for these things and the way he dressed. He was having people calling him gay and finally he broke. The bullies won at the stupidity of the school. How many more children do we have to lose to bullying and bigotry before we gather programs to stop hate and discrimination in the tracks. The school's response is a disgusting example of how our youth are being brought up and educated. Parents, kids, schools, and government are all being blamed for these atrocities, but does it really matter who is to blame?
